Bring out the Picasso in your Child

Most kids easily fall in love with colors and shapes. It’s one of their innate penchants. That’s why it’s no wonder every little kid’s toy and product is printed or painted with the brightest and most vibrant colors and prints.

However, if you notice that your child has a natural knack for sketching his pet dog down to the tiniest details of its collar or he knows the difference between the many shades of red: crimson, burgundy, scarlet, or that he marvels at the sight of art tables and art chairs, that is an entirely different story. There may be a little Picasso or Da Vinci in your child that is waiting to bloom and be honed.

And it is part of your responsibility as parent to recognize any potential that your kid may possibly possess and do everything you can to turn this potential into a talent, including an inclination towards the arts.

One thing you can do to encourage your kid’s artistic proclivity, is to engage him in activities that will foster his creativity and imagination.

Doing art projects in his art table and with his easel will not only keep him occupied for hours but will also provide endless opportunities for creativity stimulating activities? Allow him to sketch you a portrait or paint a garden with his watercolour. He can also sculpt different shapes with his molding clay or build an airplane model.

It is also a great idea to motivate him to do unusual art projects that will maximize his creativity and stretch it even further. Challenge him to turn an ordinary looking desk into a magnificent art table or ask him to create something out of bunch or cardboard or Popsicle sticks.

Also, providing him a venue where he can explore his artistic skills to the fullest is also useful. Give him a quiet private room where he can spend his time drawing or painting. Purchase a nice art table and easel where he can create his masterpieces.

It is not enough that you purchase any art table and easel that you see in the kid store. Make sure that you buy the ones that your kid will appreciate and love.

For the easel, a good buy would be Galt Easel because it has a solid hardwood frame that comes with a paper roll on one side and a chalk board on the other. The Guidecraft 4-1 Flipping Floor Easel is also a nice option because it has flipping panels that includes sides of chalkboard and magnetic dry erase board.

Meanwhile, there are also many excellent choices to select from in your quest for a good art table. The Creation Station Art Center is a versatile art center with crayon and brush bins and spacious storage for your kid’s art supplies. Your kid will also love the Guidecraft Art Sets which he can use without paper as a project table.

It is important to take note of the safety of the art table and easel so as not to pose any danger to your kid. The two art tables that were mentioned, for example, have child friendly cutters that will ensure that your kid’s little fingers will not be hurt.

To make sure that your kid is able to grow as an artist, never be too critical on his artworks. Allow him to explore his artistic abilities and  find where he excels the most. Painting portraits may be what you are mostly fond of, but be just as supportive if he seems to be more inclined to molding sculptures. Remember, your parental support and participation is the key ingredient in honing the potential of your kid and turning it into a skill or talent that you are going to be proud of someday.
