Improve your Kid’s Social Skills through Mini Gatherings

Is your kid the sociable type who loves to host tea parties for her doll friends or invite next door neighbour kids to come over to play? Or is she the meek one who would rather stay inside the house to play with herself than show herself to other people? Whichever your kid is, there is no better time to train her on socialization and interaction with other people than during this time.

As young as your kid may be, it’s already high time that she meets other people and make friends, whether young or old. If your kid is like the first kid mentioned, sociable, outgoing, more like the type who will grow up to be the life of the party, then you will not encounter much difficulty but you’ll just have to hone her socialization skills even more.

But if your kid is more like the second one, too quiet and too shy to even go outside and talk to other kids, you should do something to build her self-confidence and encourage her to interact with other people.

One thing you can do is to hold mini gatherings for her and some other kids. This is a good way to encourage her to talk to other people and make friends. Prepare your Childrens Table and Chair Set for the gathering. It’s nice if you can choose one that will be appropriate for the gathering like the Guidecraft Fancy Tea Party Table and Chair Set if you’re planning a tea party. Or choose one that will look attractive and inviting to your kid and her guests like the Guidecraft Sunflower Table and Chair Set that features nice sunflower prints that kids adore.

It is also important to arrange the kids table and chair in such a way that they’re sitting around together. This will provide more chances of interaction and communication while they have fun munching on the delicious kiddy food you prepared. It is also good to have a getting to know round where the kids can introduce themselves and say something about themselves.

After some sumptious snacks, create exciting and interactive activities while they’re around the kid’s table and chair. Engage them in games like a sharades where they can take turns guessing each other’s actions or play pictionary that will also stimulate the kid’s creativity and imagination. A game of pass the message with a twist is also a fun idea. Instead of having to pass around cliché mottos like time is gold or honesty is the best policy, why not pass around short kid friendly jokes that will elicit fits of laughter from the kids making the game even more fun.

And if you’ve watched those shows where kids say a lot of funny and interesting things, you can have them do the same at the gathering. While sitting around the kids table and on their chairs, ask them questions that will spark their curiosity and imagination like, “why do you think it is the women that God made to get pregnant and not men?” Or talk about serious topics like poverty and hunger and you will be surprised at the funny quips and intelligent insights these young minds will share.

Surely, even the shyest of kids will have loads of fun in kiddy parties like this. When your kid grows up to be a woman oozing with self-confidence and is equipped with competent communication skills, she would know she has the little parties you made for her to thank to.
